Design Destination
Decorex 2021No matter how busy we are, we always make time to visit the best design shows. It’s a great way to pick up on interesting new creative people, wonderful products, colour palettes, suppliers, and just generally people making an impact in design. I always come away feeling fired up with ideas!
Decorex, held every autumn at Olympia London, is exactly such a hot-bed of inspiring ideas. Product launches, talks, installations – it’s all here. The big guns, the little guys – everyone. And sometimes, it’s the people you find in the quieter corners who end up becoming collaborators. You just never know what gems you’re going to find.
Here are a few of my thoughts and highlights.
J Adams & Co
I was drawn to the wonderful lighting by J Adams & Co. The attention to detail, use of materials and finish on the lights subtly elevates their design to the top level, making them a great choice for the most luxurious of environments. Tom Kirk lighting caught my attention too, with some attention-grabbing slimline designs, and likewise Cameron Design.
Bert & May
I loved Bert & May’s stunning new fluted terracotta tiles, and their collaboration with the Little Green Paint Company (who I use quite often). I definitely drew inspiration from the bold colour palettes on display.
Rose Uniacke had some lovely muted colours on display, too, with a soft blended feel; lots of shades of blues and greys, which you could imagine in a super comfortable environment.
As always, the event offered an unparalleled opportunity for the interior design community to discover exquisite creations from a range of international exhibitors. Presenting established collections and launching new products, the event certainly inspired us this year – roll on Decorex 2022!
